IES Calgary Section Awards
Program Overview
The IES Calgary IA portal is parallel to IES IA portal. IES Calgary IA utilizes a simplified and low-cost submission procedure to encourage and showcase more diversified local lighting design submissions. While submissions through IES IA portal will still be judged and celebrated at national level, submissions through IES Calgary IA portal will only be judged locally using pre-established judging criteria.
The highest-scored award recipients, both from IES IA portal and IES Calgary IA portal will be honored at the IES Calgary Illumination Awards Gala in September 2026.
IES Calgary Local IA and IES IA are distinguished as follows:
Entered for the IES Calgary Local Lighting Awards & The People’s Choice Lighting Award.
- For small/medium-scale projects
- Professional photography not required
- Less preparation (fewer photos, project descriptions) may be adequate
- Judged locally (in Calgary) only
- Lower cost to enter
Entered for the national/international awards, Calgary D. E. Frost Award, and Calgary People’s Choice Lighting Award.
- For medium/larger-scale projects
- Professionally photography encouraged
- More preparation (more photos, project descriptions) may be required
- Judged by national/international judges, and Calgary local judges
- Higher cost to enter
