As the chair of the IES RP-28 Lighting For The Aged & Partially Sighted Committee and a member of the National Institute of Building Sciences’ Low Vision Design Committee, Mr. Guarnaccia will explore what low vision means to the lighting professional and what’s needed to empower those with low vision in their quest to lead independent and fulfilled lives. This presentation will share basic principles and some evidence-based guidance developed for IES/ANSI RP-28 and the NIBS Low Vision Design Guidelines that designers can employ as they integrate lighting systems into supportive environments for the 17 million Americans who live within the spectrum of low vision.
