An opportunity to tour one of Canada’s largest net zero buildings, filled with surprising illuminated moments,and hosted by the architectural, electrical and lighting designers to provide unique insights.

Geoff Bouckley – BFA, Assoc. IALD, LC, IES Associate, lightSPACE Studio Lead

Geoff is an Associate and Senior Lighting Designer at SMP with over 20 years of professional lighting design experience.

This includes an extensive fine arts background in theatrical lighting design and management for theatre, dance, and concert productions.

His affinity for performance lighting design continues as the Lighting Director for the Calgary Stampede Grandstand Show, Canada’s largest outdoor variety showcase, which incorporates moving lights, specialized LED luminaires, and detailed integration of DMX control sequences with timecoded video and special effects.

The combination of live performance and architectural lighting experience sets Geoff apart in the industry, allowing him to contribute innovative concepts and solutions across a broad range of building types and sites.

Geoff has been with the firm since 2013 and is a founding member and the Studio Lead of SMP’s in-house lighting studio, lightSPACE.

Steve Holland – P.Eng Partner P.Eng

Steven is a Senior Project Engineer and Partner with SMP Engineering.

He began working at SMP in 2010 for the opportunity to work on diverse projects, the ability to expand his knowledge, and the capability to implement designs that keep up with evolving technology.

He carries 18 years of professional electrical experience, including 10+ years working with the University of Calgary.

As the Electrical Project Manager and Engineer-of-Record for the MacKimmie Tower Redevelopment project, Steven’s knowledge and understanding of electrical requirements for high performance buildings and sustainable building design was a proven asset to achieve Net Zero Carbon Standard through the CaGBC.

This project is the first in Alberta and the largest project in Canada to receive this certification.

John Souleles – Architect, AAA / March / LEED® AP Partner, Architect

John’s wide range of project experience includes post-secondary academic buildings, public libraries, healthcare, and recreational facilities.

Over 20 years of practice, some of his most notable projects include public and institutional libraries with over $250 million construction values.

John is an enthusiastic advocate of sustainable and regenerative design who enjoys collaborative creation.

He is the project architect for the University of Calgary MacKimmie Complex and the Mount Royal University Riddell Library + Learning Centre, a new standalone facility to accommodate student and faculty academic excellence.

As a project and design architect, John has undertaken more than ten branch modernization projects for the Calgary Public Library, including renovations to the Central Branch.
