[POSTPONED] IES Lighten Up! – Luminaire Design Competition

Due to the COVID-19 situation, this event has been postponed. Our priority is not only the education of lighting professionals, but to the health and well being of all our associates.

The IES annual luminaire design competition is back!

This time we’ll be competing against over 20 other sections across North America.

The rules are simple: attendees are divided up into teams of 5 and given a secret technology kit. Just prior to starting, the competition’s theme will be revealed. At 6:30pm all teams open their kits; from there teams have 90 minutes to design and build a unique luminaire that fits the theme. The only constraints are time and your team’s imaginations.

When time is up each team will present their luminaire to our special guest judges. The winning team will have their luminaire photographed and sent on to represent Calgary Section against our IES rivals with ultimate final judging occurring at the IES Annual Conference in the summer.

So strap on your creative caps and join us for a fun and intense evening of lighting art, overly dramatic countdowns and great prizes for the winning team.
