TM-30 is the is a method for evaluating light source colour rendition. Why do we need it and how can a lighting designer use it in specification to get the design result wanted? What are the tradeoffs to be considered? We’ll review the new TM-30 Annex E that has proposes a framework for using TM-30 in specifications.

Learning objectives:

  • Understand the significant colour rendering information measured in TM-30
  • Recognize the challenges and limitations in using only CRI
  • Be able to specify parameters from TM-30 to help achieve design intent
  • Understand the TM-30 Annex E and its specification framework

Presenter: Shirley Coyle, Cree Lighting
Shirley CoyleShirley Coyle is with Cree Lighting, a market-leading innovator of LED lighting and controls. Shirley is VP & GM of the Canadian business unit for Cree Lighting, as well as VP-Specification Sales for North America. She has more than 30 years’ experience in the lighting industry. Shirley is a Board Member for Electro-Federation Canada, and a Past President of the Illuminating Engineering (IES), where she spent 6 years on the Board of Directors. Shirley is also active on several IES committees, the Transportation Research Board (TRB) Committee on Visibility and a member of the Canadian National Committee of the CIE (Commission internationale de l’éclairage).
